The Second World War in a television miniseries which, seen through the eyes of a group of mountaineers of the 10th Mountain Division, develops from the arrival of the Division in Italy, between the end of 1944 and January 1945, until the end of the war. The miniseries, dubbed in US English, is entirely based on true events documented through the memories of still living veterans and tells the personal experiences of the soldiers and their relationships with the civilian population. Set and shoot in the hilltowns and in the battlefields of the time, reconstructs some of the bloody battles and acts of heroism that led to the breakthrough of the German front in the central sector of the Gothic Line, on the mountains of the high Apennines between the provinces of the city of Bologna, Modena and Pistoia, prologue to the end of the Second World War in Italy.
The verdict of the public who attended the screenings in Italy and the United States, the comments of the descendants and veterans still alive of the 10th Mountain Division made us proud of the work done and also of having brought, with the two documentaries “1945.MOUNTAINMEN Project - History and memories” and “1945.MOUNTAINMEN Project - Memories and Territory”, a little piece of Italy to the world.
